GENERAL MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
(The following is the information on the downloadable form detailed above.)

ABOUT THE GUILD and MEMBERSHIP

The Guild of Erotic Artists is an organisation that feels that the high standards for membership it sets are important in order to maintain the integrity, quality and standards of its overall membership. New membership is strictly controlled according to the general guidelines set out below.

Entry to the Guild is limited to artists with a body of artistic work which can be classed as ‘sensual’ or ‘figurative’ in nature, and which shows a high level of competence, originality and technique [the medium used need not be limited to conventional artistic media and all forms of work will be considered on the basis of artistic expression], and to those persons whose work, in our opinion, is so closely aligned to the work of the Guild as to merit membership.

Each application must be accompanied by a selection of artwork (photographic copies of originals are acceptable) for the Guild to assess. Applications submitted without examples will be rejected. In most cases, being able to view the applicants website will assist the application process.

Applications are rigorously scrutinised by a panel of founder and current Guild members. The panel meets in private each month to assess new applications for membership. The panel vote on each application, which must be accepted by at least 6 members (including at least 2 founder members). A record is kept of the voting on each application, but is not made public.

A completed application is not a guarantee of acceptance. If an application is rejected the reasons may be made known to the applicant at the discretion of the Guild. Non-acceptance does not exclude an applicant resubmitting after a suitable period - usually a minimum of 6 months.

New applicants are informed of their acceptance or rejection as soon as possible after the selection panel has met each month.

Membership can be revoked at the discretion of the Guild if it is felt the member has not upheld the quality, ideology or aims of the Guild, or its rules and guidelines.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1: To publicise and promote erotic art through local and national media, creating public awareness of the ideals and aims of the Guild and its members.

2: To promote individual artists directly via selected media, other galleries, the Guild website and members’ mailing lists.

3: To ensure the Guild’s high standards are maintained and promoted encouraging members to continually strive for excellence.

4: To provide suitable venues and events for artists’ work (such as The Old Barn at Beaumont Hall Studios).

5: To create a bond between the Guild’s members so they act as one body, with a unified voice.

6: To encourage an exchange of views among members and to create a forum for ideas.

7: To provide clear identification and recognition of members, by the use of the Guild symbol so that the public will know they are a member of the Guild.

MAINTENANCE OF STANDARDS

One of the Guild’s principle objectives is to preserve high standards, for it is the quality of members’ work which achieves public recognition, and the consequent reputation for quality which attracts additional interest and business for all members.

The symbol of the Guild’s reputation for quality is the Guild logo (the silhouette symbol at the top left of this page).

To maintain its standards the Guild will deny membership to unsuitable applicants, and will revoke the membership of those members who allow their standards to fall to an unacceptable level. Membership can be revoked at the discretion of the Guild if it is felt the member has not upheld the quality, ideology or aims of the Guild, or its rules and guidelines.

Membership of such a guild can be an important asset to many individuals and in many businesses and ventures. It can take a considerable amount of time and finance for an individual or small company to build a comparable reputation for quality with such a strong corporate identification as now exists with the Guild.

Each member is expected to assist the Guild in maintaining these high standards at all times.

THE GUILD WEBSITE - www.theguildoferoticartists.com

The following rules apply to all members with regard to material on the Guild website:

1: Maximum number of images per member 6. Image files should be JPEG (JPG) format only, 200 pixels high, 72dpi resolution, in RGB mode.

2: Each member is responsible for ensuring that the contact details listed for them on their individual pages are correct and up to date (any corrections or updates should be sent direct to the Webmaster with a copy to the Secretary for reference). Members are allowed to have their name, address, telephone, fax, mobile, email and website details listed on their Guild page.

3: Each member of the Guild is entitled to a full page on the website, under one of the main categories listed, to promote themselves and their work (this means you can display up to 6 images, and your contact details). If you want to ensure you have a webpage on the Guild site then please supply the relevant information and material to the Webmaster - as web pages will not be created automatically and it is not his job to chase members.

4: All Guild members are required to place a link to the Guild’s website from their own websites as part of their conditions of membership - please ensure that this is done using the URL: www.theguildoferoticartists.com

The Guild website is available for all members to display their work, can be used as a point of contact and acts to promote the Guild by providing regular updates on Guild activities.

Members are advised to add the site to their favourites list and visit regularly to keep up to date with the latest news and information.

The Guild website is managed and maintained on a voluntary basis by Great Northern Publishing (publishers of JADE magazine and fellow members of the Guild) as part of the company’s continuing and active support of the Guild.

Overall control and approval of material to be uploaded to the site rests with Colin Ballard, Secretary of the Guild. However, the Webmaster, is responsible for the day to day management of the site, including uploading images, information and making necessary changes to members details and images as presented on the site.

All members should note that the website is for the benefit of Guild members only and we will not provide links from a member’s Guild page to a general website which promotes non members of the Guild. The link from your Guild web page must be to your own personal website, featuring your own work. In the case of any dispute over what constitutes a ‘personal website’ the Secretary’s decision will be final and absolute.

Please help us make the website a success by providing the material for your webpage to the Webmaster (via email) as soon as possible after you are admitted to membership of the Guild.

The Guild now has a small ‘web pack’ which contains the Guild’s logo, a short paragraph of text about the Guild and a link banner. These are available direct from the Secretary via e-mail and are for use on your personal website to show you are a member of the Guild and to explain what the Guild is and what it does.
