NEXT EVENT DAY: Sunday 20th July 2008

Event Day Report - 22nd June 2008

Well, what can we say! The celebration of the 6th Anniversary of the Guild of Erotic Artists (and of Beaumont Hall Studios) was truly special event and was heralded by glorious sunshine - though the wind did blow a bit, which helped to keep the rain away. The guests, members and visitors flooded in (no pun intended) in ever growing numbers and promised a busy day.

The first visitors began arriving very punctually on this occasion, obviously eager to be part of the celebrations, so preparations got underway rather earlier than usual to organise the day's full schedule of activities. With Silvee, as ever, manning the food counter and bar, she was kept busy for most of the day with many hungry mouths to feed and thirsts to quench. What would we do without her on these great event days? Three cheers for Silvee says I, and long may she provide the sustenance we need.

Our body painter in residence, the redoubtable Richard J. Smith arrived armed with his body painting kits and immediately got ready for the body painting competition - no dallying here. Richard knows his stuff and was straight down to business.

As is now our custom, after everyone was replenished with food and drink our secretary, Colin Ballard, rose up onto the newly erected stage with his new state of the art microphone (oh how he loves his toys!) and thanked everyone for attending. He delighted in regaling the hushed crowd with the importance of the event, and the progress and achievements the Guild has made in the last six years. This of course included important appearances on television, and appearances by Guild members on mainstream and satellite television, as well as the programme 'Sexcetera' which now regularly features the documentary about the Guild every four weeks. The Guild is now firmly in the public eye and is determined to stay there.

With volume two of our successful Guild Book in publication by August, and a brand new DVD which is to be available by November, as well as a new regime of promoting members' work, both in direct sales and the new Beaumont Hall Studios website, the Guild is not only continuing to move in the right direction, but is flourishing and revelling in its many diverse talents and disciplines. Colin got a little excited here - perhaps it was the reference to 'discipline' - are there any lady volunteers willing to spank our secretary at the next event day? It's all in a good cause of course . . .

Colin then welcomed Pam from Slipland who announced her next large scale venture in London planned for September. Full details of this event will be emailed to all Guild members in due course. Details of her previous event at Beaumont Hall Studios can be seen on both the Slipland website and Net Model site. Pam and Slipland are organisers of some great events and this new one is likely to be a smash so members watch this space.

Colin then introduced the first performance of the day. A superb three minute burlesque piece from member Nicole A. Lure which was met with rapturous applause. Nicole is not only a great performance artist, but a photographer, stylist, make up artist and model. Versatile and delightful!

Still breathless from the show, it was straight onto the body painting competition which was very well organised by artist Richard J. Smith who had managed to get no less than seven couples to take part (we only asked for four - so it just shows how eager everyone is to get involved at these event days). The whole idea was for one of the couples to paint a bikini top onto their partner - all of this 'artistry' went on behind the screen of the stage curtain, which served to add an air of mystery to the proceedings.

Meanwhile more visitors were arriving and Colin found himself extra busy signing up several new members and welcoming them to the Guild. What a great day to join this legion of artisans!

When the body painting was completed all the 'models' trooped out onto the stage to show off the results. They were welcomed with cheers and loud applause, especially 'model' Ben Davies (one of our member photographers), who joined into the spirit of things by having a bikini painted on his manly chest, which rather suited him. It was then up to the lively and energetic audience to judge who they thought was adorned with the best piece of artwork.

Using the Guild's patented method of the trusty old 'clap-o-meter' by way of measuring the results for each model (based on the simple calculation of whomever got the loudest applause would be declared the winner), the result was simply too close to call on the first round of applause, so the Guild's three wise men (Paul Ballard, Richard Smith, Chris Christoforou), acting as 'judges' decided to make the audience clap all over again. And this time there was a very clear winner, Mel.

But all the 'models' did so well that our gallant secretary, Colin, stepped up onto the stage (he loves it up there) and awarded certificates to everyone who took part, and presented a huge bottle of champagne to the wonderful Mel. 'Models' and 'Partners' were as follows; Mel and Silvee (Winners) Brenda and Paul Haley Marianne Cheesecake - Mike Crawley Tina Yates and Mark Yates Ben Davies and Miss Khandie Khisses April Pink and Jeff Aysha and Ledgie.

Following the competition there was a moment of quiet reflection and back slapping when Colin announced that the Guild wanted to recognise two members who had given so much by way of their time and services to the Guild over the past few years. On behalf of a grateful and appreciative Guild, Colin awarded certificates and champagne to Ian Wood and Geoff Payne for their 'dedication and commitment' to the Guild. More applause and cries of 'Hear! Hear!' followed.

Then it was back on with the event day and we were privileged to another spectacular performance by Nicole Allure. This time the whole thing was captured for posterity and the next Guild DVD by Patron member and cameraman, Colin Cooper. During all of this a number of photo shoots were going on outside in the sunshine as members and models took full advantage of the good weather and beautiful surrounding countryside.

By the time people started to disperse late in the day, a great day had been had by one and all and our celebrations had been completed in fine style befitting the traditions of the Guild. We would like to thank all our members and supporters for their continued participation and support - the Guild exists and goes from strength to strength due in no small portion to the part you all play.

But we're not resting on our laurels, as we're already making plans for our mighty seventh anniversary next year, so make a note that June is a special month and if you could not attend this year, we look forward to seeing you in 2009. Meanwhile, there are always our equally fine regular event days throughout the rest of the year to look forward to - the next one is on 20th July, so come and join us.

Event Day Report - 18th May 2008

We were extremely fortunate that the May Event Day at Beaumont Hall Studios fell on a lovely sunny day, with clear skies and bright sunshine. Although the doors opened around noon, and members and visitors began arriving, mingling, networking and generally enjoying themselves, it was not until mid afternoon, with over 60 visitors present that our first photoshoot of the day, with Guild model and regular event day favourite, Sarah Jane, took place. A handful of photographers took full advantage of the shoot and Sarah's poses both inside and outside the barn. Even our resident body painting artist Richard J, Smith got in on the act. The Guild is grateful to photographers Mark Scott and Rik Franks for recording the day for us with some great images.

Our redoubtable secretary, Colin Ballard, gave one of his usual rousing 'onward and upward' speeches in which he thanked all the Guild Members who had taken part in the ITV programme 'The Great British Body' which is now scheduled for screening in early June - so keep an eye on the schedules. The programme has already resulted in a number of contacts for some of the participants and the Guild model, Clifford Allinson, was actually hired to feature in the Channel 4 programme 'Fonejackers' which will be shown in August. So not only was this a great fun event for everyone who took part, but was yet another great networking and promotional opportunity for our members - well done to those who took full advantage. Mention was also made of The Passion Show at Earls Court (which ran from 24th-25th May) and which featured no less than ten Guild members who were exhibiting their work.

Colin then went on to tell the assembled members and visitors that the new style JADE-pdf magazine had been very well received by most of the membership and he made an impassioned plea for more members to contribute their work to the forthcoming issues. He concluded by saying that being published in colour now opens the whole publication up to both photographers and artists to have their work seen as intended and with more pages and monthly publication things are only getting better.

The day's featured performer arrived later than expected due to the heavy traffic (always happens when the sun comes out), but Paisley X showed us that she had been well worth waiting for. Over from Zimbabwe for a series of performances across the UK, she found time to perform a special one-off show for the Guild and her fellow members. She, and her assistant Simon, along with some willing helpers set up the lighting for the stage show; equipped with UV lighting and various body paints she treated the entire crowd to a fantastic performance, and with the main lights off, the UV lighting worked to spectacular effect. The Guild's very own cameraman, Colin Cooper, was on hand to record it all on film - so watch out for this performance in our next DVD. Following the show the photographers joined Paisley for a photoshoot. Some of the resulting images can be seen here. The contrast between the UV lighting and the normal lighting, plus the use of the fluorescent paints, added a unique dimension to the whole shoot which was greatly appreciated and admired. We would like to thank Paisley for her performance and will look forward to seeing her perform at Beaumont Hall Studios again in the future.

The Guild is currently planning next month's Event Day which will be our 6th Anniversary celebration, so if you want to come along for a visit, or would like to perform or give a demonstration, or even just be part of the Guild, please contact the secretary, Colin.

Event Day Report - 20th April 2008
It was another great day at Beaumont Hall Studios. The weather was extremely kind and the strong winds that had plagued us recently had died down making it a very pleasant day. With visitors arriving earlier than usual, the kitchen was very hectic with bacon butties being at the top of everyone's list of priorities. So much so in fact that a special run was organised to bring in more bacon to meet demand!

The day got started with the now obligatory welcome speech from Secretary, Colin Ballard, who thanked everyone for attending, noting that many had come from far and wide, some for the first time. He highlighted the programme for the day and then 'rallied the troops' with his now legendary pep talk about the progress of the Guild and its future.

Meanwhile, in the background rehearsals were underway for the special performance that was about to happen. It was also noted that all three founder members were present, which he said, 'was an event in itself'! Much was made of the ITV programme that the Guild is getting involved in, especially now that four of our models - Nicole Klein and Miss Loula Cherry at Brighton, and Silvee and Roze Thorn at Birmingham - had been invited for interviews with TV personalities Trinny and Susannah at Brighton and Birmingham. The models did themselves and The Guild proud and they were thanked for their contribution in promoting The Guild.

Members were then reminded about the photoshoot for the finale of the programme which was to take place on the South Downs on 26th April. This was yet another piece of good free publicity for The Guild as well as jolly good fun. Colin then reported that progress on the second volume of the Guild Book was coming along very well, with the contributors getting their work in on time. There followed a request for new ideas for the Event Day demonstrations. Many were forthcoming and it looks like members and visitors alike will be enjoying some great performances for the rest of the year.

The organisers of the feature performance of the day, Pam, Darren and Launa from Slipland then took to the 'stage' to present their event day special set piece 'The Slipland take on The Full Monty'. It turned out to be a great bit of fun as the performers, all Guild models, Silvee, Mel and Sarah Jane (who was stepping into the breach at the last moment after one of the original 'cast' dropped out) had only rehearsed together on the day! The result however was pretty spectacular and Colin Cooper who was on hand with his trusty and now much used video camera to record it all for posterity. The resulting film, we are assured, will appear on the next Guild DVD. Slipland have always pulled something extra out of the bag for their Guild demonstrations and they were thanked for putting on such a strong and entertaining event.

As the weather was in our favour there then followed a handful of impromptu photoshoots outside which included Guild models Aleta, Sarah Jane and a new member, April Pink.

All in all it was another great day at the Studios - they just seem to get better and better - and we can now look forward to the 18th May Event Day which will feature a special performance by model Paisley X who will be travelling all the way from Zimbabwe to visit us - so make a note in your diaries and we'll see you there.

Guild Event Day - Sunday 16th March 2008
It was another great day at Beaumont Hall Studios. Traffic problems on the motorway and the weather forecast probably put a lot of visitors off, but after a slow start, our now normal packed house was achieved. Over 60 visitors attended, some for the first time and they were treated to our now 'famous' demonstrations. Silvee was kept extremely busy behind the 'food' counter making sure all the visitors were fed and watered. What would we do without her to nourish us?!

To start this month's proceedings artist Richard Smith and his trusty body paints were put to work on a visitor who had contacted the Guild after seeing us at Erotica. She wanted her body painted and photos taken of the finished result. So with Richard at work, photographer Rik Franks was commissioned to take the photos of the ongoing work and the final result. Some of the images are shown here.

There was then a short speech from the Guild secretary, Colin Ballard. He thanked everyone for attending and in showing their support by turning up on such a foul day. He also welcomed our new members and potential members who had come along to see what the Guild is all about. He proudly announced a decent portaloo had now been obtained while the long awaited toilet block is under construction. Colin was pleased to conclude by introducing a programme producer from ITV who wanted volunteer models to appear in a forthcoming series titled 'The Great British Body'. As a finale to the show they want to create a landmark picture of the way that we look in 2008 and they need the Guild's help to do it. On the weekend of 26th/27th April they will be attempting to create a unique and inspiring human sculpture which celebrates the British male and female form. It will be an art installation on a huge scale, 'to show that we are proud of the way our bodies look.' This drew a loud cheer from the crowd and to start the ball rolling Colin immediately volunteered. The response was amazing and the Guild will be well represented at this event. Let's hope the weather is better by then!

Next it was on to this month's showpiece act. Pam and Darren, from Slipland, presented one of their theatrical acts entitled 'The Dance of the Seven Slips'. Unfortunately, their model for the day was unable to attend, so bravely Guild model Mel stepped in at the last minute. She had little time to rehearse, just a swift ten minutes in a car going through the routine on paper - and this was her first public demonstration! The act was filmed by the Guild's own cameraman, Colin Cooper, and photos were taken, some of which are shown here. In fact, Mel did the performance twice, so camera flashes did not interfere with the filming. A big thank you went to Pam and Darren for organising the act, and an even bigger thank you went to Mel for such a great performance.

The secretary is still booking demonstrations for the rest of the year's event days, so please let him know if you want to show other members and our visiting public what you can do at one of these well supported events. As the spaces are booked we will post details on the Events and Diary page of this site. This is a great opportunity for Guild members to show off their talents and skills, and show how they create their work and to promote themselves. Demonstrations can be anywhere from ten minutes, to an hour long. This is an opportunity for all members and is totally free (no exhibition fees, no insurance to worry about, easy car parking, subsidised food and drink) so there is absolutely no excuse for members not to come forward and show what they have to offer.

Finally, everyone was reminded that all Full and Associate Memberships come up for renewal on 31st March ready for the Guild's new year which begins on 1st April. The secretary asked all members to be prompt with their membership payments to save the time and expense of sending out extra reminders.

Our next Event Day is on Sunday 20th April and we are looking forward to something totally different . . . watch this website for further announcements!

January Event Day
A fairly cold day greeted visitors for the first Event Day of 2008 on 20th January at Beaumont Hall Studios. But that didn't stop the our members and models doing what they do best! A good crowd attended, and they were soon warmed up by Silvee's home made soup. Secretary Colin Ballard gave his usual rousing welcome speech, highlighting everything the Guild has to offer in the coming months. He also welcomed those new members who were visiting the Guild's HQ for the first time and the visitors who had seen us on 'Sexcetera' (11.00pm on Living TV) - where the Guild's documentary is being regularly aired every couple of months.

Our first demonstration was a brand new retro pin-up trio, put together by Nicole Klein, called Tricoleur with Miss Khandie Kisses, Miss Loula Cherry and Nicole A. Lure. This was their first official appearance so we were both honoured and delighted. Photographers were allowed to take photo's (for which a normal nominal £5 fee is charged which goes to the models for their time). It was a great first appearance by Tricoleur and we can look forward to many more appearances both at Beaumont Hall Studios and at exhibitions such as Passion and Erotica.

Our resident Body Painter, Richard J. Smith, then took over the stage with new Guild model Sian. She bravely bared all despite the cold (kept warm by a variety of heating). Wielding brush and paint Richard redressed her with a fresh new blue bikini. The finished result was applauded and the subject of many photographs and drawings.

February Event Day
Our February Event Day was a fairly quiet affair as we had no demonstrations planned. The temperature had plummeted the night before so it was a bit too cold for the models. Unfortunately Richard J. Smith had being busy doing a body painting commission the previous day and was unfit to do any more demonstrating on the day. Colin took pity and allowed him to have a day off - although he did say that he wants him back on form in March, or else! Despite these little setbacks everyone had a great time chatting, networking, admiring the art work and discussing their equipment, styles and techniques. There were many new members for whom this was their first visit to the Studios and they all enjoyed the atmosphere.

Colin gave a vote of thanks to Ken Clarke and Ian (our ever present Patron), for hanging a the work of new members. With so much artwork being on display and now being changed regularly, no Event Day is ever the same. Showing the best in erotic and sensual art, a visit to Beaumont Hall Studios should not be missed and we invite everyone to come along and join us.

Our next Event Day is on 16th March and we already have a few demonstrations lined up, and are taking bookings for the coming months. Please contact the secretary, Colin Ballard, to book your slot.
secretary@theguildoferoticartists.com

This could be photography, life drawing, sculpture, life casting, body painting or a theatrical act. We are always looking for something different so let Colin know if you'd like to have a go.

If you are not yet a member please contact Colin to discuss membership. He is promising any new member joining now will get their March membership for free! And Colin is not renowned for his generosity, so it really is a rare offer. Memberships start once an application has been accepted (usually within seven days) and our annual renewal date is 1st April.

Event Day - Sunday 16th December 2007
Well, another year has flown by and Christmas is upon us. Our last Event Day of the year was a great success with a packed house and many guests enjoying the festive cheer and entertainment. It was a freezing cold day in St Albans, but there was no wind to speak off so it just needed some heat to warm the visitors through. With a gas blower warming the barn and a blazing fire outside (to warm up the hardy smokers), everyone kept warm and had a merry and festive time. Many new members were visiting for the first time and spoke of how impressed they were with their welcome and the whole day.

Silvee, Mel and Nicky dressed up in their Santa outfits to add to the Christmas theme and some of our guests entered into the yuletide spirit with Santa hats and other apparel. Silvee's delicious home-made soup helped warm the deepest cockles and took the chill off those all important frost-bitten extremities.

The idea of each member bringing a small gift to go into the Christmas box which was then divided amongst the participants was so well supported that the box we had wasn't big enough and another was quickly sought. The secretary, Colin Ballard, made his now customary Xmas speech - not quite the Queen, but far more relevant to the packed audience waiting for baited breath for every word. Colin recapped the many highlights of the past twelve months, drawing attention to the achievements and progress the Guild and its members continue to make, including the exhibitions attended, the launch of the new DVD, as well as outlining the Guild's forthcoming projects, such as a second DVD and Volume 2 of the Guild Book. He concluded with thanks to everyone who had rolled up their sleeves and helped made the Guild what it is today.

Ken Clarke then took over to organise the demonstrations, with potential Guild model Alison Scott teaming up with artist Richard J. Smith who went to work with his trusty body paints. In keeping with the Christmas theme he proceeded to paint a variety of Christmas images over her body. This was followed by a photo shoot with another potential Guild member, Donna, in The Studio.

We also had no less than three Santa's outside posing for the cameras - well done girls, as it was a bit chilly! There was even an impromptu photo shoot with Nicky and Mark Bate's two dogs! Everyman and his dog it seems wants to be part of the Guild!

Whilst all this was happening, artist Paul John Ballard was outside completing a large canvass for an ongoing commission. Although he insisted it had nothing to do with being able to smoke outside! Perhaps the pinnacle of the day came with the cutting of the Guild Christmas Cake, kindly donated by Mark and Aleta of the fabulous London Cake Company. Honours for cutting were given to Aleta, with Silvee doing the serving. It was delicious!

The end of the day came with what we hope will become something of another Guild tradition, the distributing of the gifts. All in all it was a great end to a fantastic day and what has been a fantastic year - certainly our most successful so far.

Event Day - Sunday 11th November 2008
We would like to thank everyone who attended the November Event Day. Unfortunately, it fell on Remembrance Sunday and it was therefore understandable that numbers were a little down as people paid their respects on this important day in our national calender. It was also the coldest day so far and that didn't help either. But we still managed over 40, attending from far and wide and were able to welcome a few new visitors as well. So in that regard the day got off to a good start.

The arrival of a 1950s caravan was a surprise for many although it provided an alternative setting for photo shoots with many of our photographers taking advantage of brave Guild model 'All in Pink' despite the cold. We have some very plucky members. But we kept her inside the caravan on this occasion so it was a little bit warmer - almost! With some of the new attendees anxious to do some life drawing, Guild model Sarah-Jane helped out and provided the muse and subject of inspiration. To stave off the cold we surrouded her with mobile electric heaters and the budding artists were able to set to work and a number of short sessions followed.

Next, event day regular, artist Richard J. Smith and Sarah-Jane worked on a bodypainting session with a difference. Richard painted a butterfly between her legs - it was beautifully and artistically done and everyone agreed Sarah-Jane was a real trouper for taking part. She was then whisked off for a quick photo shoot with the said artwork. Home made soup was served up by Silvee, which did much to ward off the winter chills and frostbite to the exposed extremities!

There were a number of new members visiting us for the first time and they were impressed with the barn and the set up, even if it was a bit chilly. Colin has promised that next time the heating will be sorted and it won't be like getting together in the arctic - I'm sure I saw a polar bear, but it could have been Ken Clarke!

The long awaited DVD covering five years of Beaumont Hall Studios and The Guild nears completion and it will be on sale in late November and will be made available to Guild Members who are overseas or who cannot attend our Event Days. More details of that are to be announced shortly.

All in all it was another good day and one in which we continue to show the strength of the Guild, both in its structure and in its quality of membership.

Event Day - 21st October 2007
Another Event Day at Beaumont Hall Studios and the weather was kind again. We have been so lucky this year. The event was a relatively low key affair compared to previous Event Days, mainly due people making the most of the last of their year's holidays and with a number of members preparing for Erotica and other exhibitions. But we were still very busy from the outset, with new visitors and potential members coming along to see what we do and look at the wealth of art we have on display. Silvee was kept busy feeding everyone as usual.

Demonstrations were kept to a minimum with Richard J. Smith showing off his skills as a bodypainter again. This time we had Slipland model, April Pink, with a fox being painted on her breasts. This is now a regular feature at event days and so we can all look forward to more from Richard in the future.

Paul John Ballard, fresh from his Scarlet Award for best erotic artist, was there doing a commission he is currently working on, taking advantage of the weather conditions and the fabulous lighting conditions we enjoy here. His 6' x 3' canvas was set up outside and visitors were able to watch and chat as he worked.

The day was a great opportunity for members and visitors to chat and network and it seemed to be the order of the day.

One of our regular Patron Members along with future Guild model, Donna, made use of the now famous Beaumont Hall wall around the side of the studios for an impormptu photo shoot. As it was such a glorious sunny day, they were able to get a lot of shots, so well done to them both.

The Guild's AGM is Sunday 28th October, and we look forward to preparing our vision for the future of The Guild in concert with members. All members are welcome to attend and have their say. A survey has gone out to all members to voice their opinions on what the Guild has achieved so far and what we want to achieve for the future. The AGM starts at 1.00pm sharp! See you there.

Event Day - 16th September 2007
Thanks to everyone who came along to the September Event Day. The weather was fine (no rain which was a bonus of course) although it was a bit windy, but attendance figures were down this month due largely to the fact that so many people were on holiday and making the most of the very last of the summer, or else were doing exhibitions and just generally too busy working - which is acceptable! Those who did attend were treated to a host of the usual visual delights that mark The Guild as a very special place to be.

As ever, all those hungry mouths needed feeding and Silvee manned the food counter all day - not even being able to break off to do any modelling or take part in any activities. She was kept extremely busy throughout the day. Our esteemed Secretary, Colin Ballard, addressed the gathered multitude as usual to pass on information of forthcoming exhibitions and details of the day's demonstrations.

Kicking everything off was a unique theatrical performance from Guild model Vynx, who performed along with her husband James and was assisted by photographer Mike Crawley. The twelve minute piece was filmed by Guild cameraman Colin Cooper and the DVD will be available shortly. As there were no photographs allowed during the performance, you can visit her Vynx's website and see the rehearsal photographs by clicking here. Next, Richard J, Smith took his now customary spot and performed the art of body painting on this month's volunteer, Guild model Sarah Jane. The subject was a beaver! The results can be seen here. Sarah Jane only joined the Guild last month and has since already appeared in two of our event day demonstrations. If you wish to book her, please visit her website by clicking here. Images of the demonstration are shown here. Well done to both Richard and Sarah for another great performance.

We then had a wonderful parade of models as those who attended took part in our lingerie demonstration and photo shoot, posing for the many photographers who were delighted to have so many models to work with, these included: Penny Fair, Miss Khandie Khisses, Leila Domini and Nicole of Hourglass. It was great fun and everyone enjoy it immensely. A special mention has to be made about one of our Patron Members, Ian, who attends every Event Day without fail and who lives 'way up north' in Darlington, County Durham (not quite in Scotland for those in the south who are not too good on the old geography) and always offers to help out wherever he can. He did another great job in sorting out the car parking. We owe him a big vote of thanks, his efforts are always most appreciated.

This was our last Event Day before our next exhibitions which are at the Adults Only Show at the NIA in Birmingham and the Xpo at The Barbican in London. Both exhibitions are on over the weekend of 5th-7th October, although the Xpo starts on the 6th. Featured Guild members for the Adults Only show are; Paul John Ballard, Ken Clarke, Robert Babylon, Gray Bishop, Peter Bratt, Garry Walton, David Kirkbright and Sancia Lux. And for the Expo exhibition; Fabulous Fascinators, Nicole Klein, Andy Dendy, Miss Khandie Khisses, Leila Domini and Roze Thorne. We hope you will give them all your support wherever you can and go along and see them in action.

Event Day - 12th August 2007
It was the height of Summer, mid August and The Guild hosted another of our legendary Event Days at Beaumont Hall Studios, set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside outside St Albans. However, it appears as if those in charge of the weather had not read the script and we were blessed with a mixture of sunshine and showers throughout the day. Even so, despite this the visitors still arrived in good numbers and a great day ensued and was enjoyed by all.

To kick things off, the ever busy Silvee fed the early attendees and then promptly suggested to her other half, our secretary, Colin, that she would like to do a photo shoot outside showing off her new belly dancer's sarong. Colin thought it was a good idea and took some shots with Silvee's new digital camera . . . but it wasn't long before the professionals took over and commandeered the shoot. This was followed by the Guild artist Chris Francis who began his life oil painting with new Guild model Vynx. As much as it would have been nice to do this outside in the sunshine but due to the inclement weather it was done inside the barn, but the results were extremely good.

Meanwhile braving the weather outside, Silvee continued with more photo shoots where she was joined by Guild models Penny and Mel. They managed to get a break in the weather and the results were pretty good. We also had Guild artist Richard Smith who was with us again after a break of a couple of months, and along with his body paints and Guild model Sarah, he produced a special body painting session, painting a bikini onto her naked body ! It didn't last long though, as it was washed off in another photo shoot outside. Richard's skills are a real delight and to watch his art unfold is almost magical.

Then the latest addition to our ever growing stable of models, Vynx, did an impromptu photo shoot outside alongside a Daimler parked outside the Studios. No prizes for guessing who it belonged to. (And no it's not Colin's!)

As usual, we encourage all newcomers to participate if they wish, and we captured a new Guild model in the shape of Sarah Jane who had never really modelled before, but it wasn't long before she was in the fields strutting her stuff and we think we've found a star in the making. Well done Sarah Jane for being plucky enough to give it a go, and welcome to The Guild.

Many thanks to all the photographers who sent Colin their photos of the day, especially our own ever-present John Kirkelionis who always manages to get the action of the event days so well. We enjoyed the company of visitors from afar again, and this time the furthest travelled guests came down all the way from Ayrshire (that's in Scotland for those of you who failed your geography 'O' Level!) They could not believe what we have here and were extremely impressed, so much so that they will be visiting again!

In between her photo shoots, Silvee found both the time and the energy to run the bar and feed the hungry ravening hoards. So much so that she ran out of a lot of the grub on the menu! Mind you, one really does build up an appetite when you see what goes on here on an Event Day.

Everyone commented favourably on the refurbishments to the barn and studios and on the new selection of artwork available on display. All in all another successful day and a good time was had by everyone.

Our next Event Day is on 16th September, so if you want to get involved, come along and join the fun. Colin is now taking bookings for future events so please come forward and put your name down. We look forward to seeing you then.

Event Day and Aphrodisia Exhibition - 24th June 2007
Well, what can we say, with half of the country covered in water it was a soggy day on Sunday 24th June - the glorious 5th Anniversary of The Guild of Erotic Artists and Beaumont Hall Studios. However, we are delighted to say that the poor weather did not deter the visitors who came travelled from all over the UK to celebrate the occasion with us.

Our first vote of thanks has to go to Ian, who was our 'volunteer' car park attendant for the day. Suitably attired, he did a sterling job ensuring that dozens of cars were parked courteously and correctly. It was a job well done and we know he'll always find a job as a Traffic Warden (a nice one) if he wants one! Again, Silvee did her usual excellent job of ensuring that all our hungry and thirsty visitors were fed and watered.

Before the proceedings got underway, Colin Ballard, Secretary of The Guild, made a small speech thanking everyone for attending and giving their support over the past five years. Yes, it has been that long! He emphasised that the Guild has survived its ups and downs and continues to grow and thrive, and can only get stronger as it recieves the same sort of support it has enjoyed over the past five years. He also had a big thank you to everyone involved in the recent refurbishment's of the studios especially Ken Clarke, Dave Davies and Erossane - who were the driving force behind the 'Aphrodisia' Exhibition which opened later in the day. It is this sort of dedication that has brought the Guild to where it is today, at the forefront of erotica and the single most determined driving force behind raising standards and trumpeting good quality erotic art there is. Colin then introduced the main featured demonstration of the day: 'Jacky and Hydie - A Slipland Melodrama in two parts'.

Slipland took a slightly different approach to the sort of thing they normally do. Slipland is all about portraying the lost art of femininity in women. Their work generally shows the sensuous side, rather than the overtly sexual side, but acknowledge that ladies are many things and they wished to show this through a fun and unique Slipland take on the Jekyll and Hyde story to show two of the different sides women are capable of; the 'cutesy, pink and fluffy' and the 'raunchy sex goddess'. They chose Natalie W as the model as they felt she was the perfect women to fully show off both sides and bring us Jacky and Hydie. Darren brought his skills to bear as a very memorable Oliver Hardy and Launa was behind the scenes to help with the quick change needed between the scenes. The soundtrack was carefully chosen and edited to give the right ambience to the show, which was performed to a very appreciative audience. Natalie, atired in lingerie, then modelled for several Guild photographers inside the studio and then, dressed in a PVC cat-suit, she posed on a Lotus outside in the car park. More images of this feature are available at www.slipland.net

The demonstration and photo shoots were followed by the presentation of the '5th Anniversary cake' which was made to the Directors and Founding Fathers; Colin Ballard, Paul Ballard and Ken Clarke. The cake was made by Guild members Mark and Aleta of the London Cake Company and what a cake it was - not only great to look at (art in its own right) but truly scrumptious too! (www.londoncake.com ). The honour of cutting the cake was given to Silvee for her stalwart and never tiring services to the Guild and the Studios over the past five years. She has been a shining example of what Guild members are all about, not only as our main well-loved 'caterer', but as a very reliable Guild Model in her own right.( www.silvee.co.uk ) Following all the hullabloo of the celebrations, the Studios were cleared so the showpiece event of the day could be unveiled.

The 'Aphrodisia' Exhibition was officially opened. Placed on the newly painted walls and clear lines, there were over 100 pieces of artwork on display; work created and exhibited by Guild members and non-members alike. It has to be said that this is probably the finest collection of erotic art on public display in the UK today - sensual, but not pornographic, tasteful, not smutty. All of the work on display is there to be admired (and purchased). The 'Aphrodisia' Exhibition continues until the end of July and viewing is by appointment only by contacting 01582 791661 or by email at guildgallery@gmail.com The Guild would like to extend its sincere thanks to all those who have worked so hard to make this event happen and to create something very special. You have all done a wonderful job and we're proud of you and the exhibitors.

Slipland Boat-shoot - 10th June 2007
What a day! It was a beautiful sunny day, warm and glorious and just perfect for Slipland's fantastic '1950s Boat-shoot' on the River Thames at Cookham in Surrey. We were all staggered by the response of models and photographers wanting to take part and on the day we had a total of 19 models and 22 photographers! It was a fantastic turn out and one of our best supported events ever.

Everyone gathered at Cookham Island for a very well organised (and so it should be with 22 photographers there) photo-shoot featuring both amateur and professional models. The entire event was superbly organised and orchestrated by Slipland's exuberant owners Pam and Darren, who were ably assisted by their daughter Launa.

Slipland had laid on all the costumes, organised the use of a classy vessel and even provided a scrumptious barbecue through which flowed enough food to feed a small army. But the day wasn't all about fun, food and frollicks!

The photographers were busy from the start, choosing which of the many models they wanted to work with and organising the times and settings of their shoots. The models were extremely busy too, eagerly working with the photographers to get the best from the location, setting and the wonderful weather. With the glorious sight of a bevy of scantily clad ladies running to and fro between their various shoots amongst the leafy well-spread trees, and on the green and pleasant riverbanks, a great time was had by all.

The photographic results of the day are displayed on Slipland's website (www.sliplandgalleries.com) and on the sites of the various models and photographers who took part. The images shown here are just a small flavour of the day and we would like to heartily thank everyone who came along and participated and who made this such a unique and creative event - especially Slipland without whom there would not have been an event. Pam and Darren did a marvellous job and they have the full and grateful appreciation of the Guild - well done. We are now eagerly awaiting Slipland's next event!

Guild Event Day - 13th May 2007
Luckily for everyone who came, the threatened monsoon didn't occur and what rain there was did not dampen our spirits. This was the penultimate event before our glorious Fifth Anniversary 'bash', so visitors (of which there were many) had to contend with a pile of artwork stacked in the centre of The Old Barn, and the bare white walls, which had been freshly painted and filled ready for the hanging of the Fifth Anniversary Exhibition 'Aphrodisa'. But this did not detract from them enjoying themselves and another great time was had by all, and even though the rain prevented us from holding some of our planned demonstrations outside, we still managed three of them within the confines of The Studios.

Prior to the Event, the third meeting of the Steering Committee was held, during which next month's exhibition preparations were finalised.

Silvee manned her 'grub and booze' counter as usual, cooking up hearty breakfasts even though there were, on this occasion, no tables to sit and eat at! But we are a very adaptable and easy going bunch of artisans and no one complained. It was also her birthday - so Many Happy Returns from us all and many more!

To kick off the day we had new Guild life models, Jacqui and Gerald, who posed for the many photographers among the visitors. We then continued with Nicole Klein demonstrating her considerable make-up and photography skills on her own models. And finally, for our third demo, Guild model, Paisley X came all the way from Zimbabwe to perform a fabulous erotic striptease - she is certainly the furthest traveller ever to visit Beaumont Hall Studios! Photos from all three demonstrations, taken by John Kirkelionis and Rik Franks, accompany this report. The Guild would like to thank everyone involved in the demos and our visitors for attending and helping to make this another super day.

Ken Clarke then made a 'long' announcement about the forthcoming 'Aphrodisia' Exhibition to be staged on 24th June. This will be our Fifth Anniversary, and our June Event Day will therefore precede the exhibition and the main Gallery opening. Make a note in your diaries now: Guild 'Aphrodisia' Exhibition, 24th June 2007. The doors will open at 12.00noon for Event Day and the Exhibition itself will be opened at 5.00pm.

These are exciting times for The Studios and for The Guild, and with other exhibitions already planned or in development for this year, the Guild is moving forward to build on the firm foundation of the first five years. For more information regarding the exhibitions, please contact: Colin Ballard, Guild Secretary, using the address details on the contacts page or email him at: secretary@theguildoferoticartists.com

Guild Event Day - 15th April 2007
What a lovely day this was. Not only was it the warmest day this year so far, but visitors and members from right across the country turned up to join us. The day started with the second meeting of the Steering Committee before doors were open to the public. This has produced a project that will make everyone sit up and take notice - more details about it will appear soon.

The Event Day itself began at 12.30 and by 1.00pm the Barn was getting busy. As usual, Silvee was busily sorting out the breakfasts and making sure the food kept coming. People do get an appetite when they come to St Albans - it must be all the fresh air and good company!

The first performance was a fashion show combined with a striptease by models Nicky and Simone which really got the pulses racing. It was arranged by Pam and Darren of Slipland who also completed a photo shoot with the girls. After this the photographers, both amateur and professional, were allowed to take photo's of the models in a variety of poses and garments, all supplied by Pam.

Next came models Tom So and Maggie doing a session of life drawing poses. As something of a change of scene they took advantage of the lovely weather and did their posing outside in the fields. It was a great idea and it worked wonderfully. Whilst all this was going on Richard Smith was body painting Guild model Aleta. The cute little puppies that were painted on her chest were absolutely stunning and of course photographs of this were taken by her photographer partner Mark Huggins.

For the last of the day's organised demos, but by no means the least, we had Guild model Leila Domini parading in an Egyptian outfit that swiftly became the focus of another photo shoot. Taking advantage of the great weather, Dave Davies and Guild model Erosanne undertook an impromptu shoot in the fields and came up with some really great images.

As you can see, a visit to The Barn is a must if you like erotic art and mixing with people who are of a like mind. Never pornographic, but very tasteful, The Guild and The Barn are showing the way forward. To this end, the Barn is undergoing some refurbishment, but will be open as usual for the Spring Event Day on Sunday 13th May. We do hope that you can come along. Tickets are £5 at the door, and all the money raised goes to the continuing improvements at the Barn and to marketing The Guild.

If you would like to get involved, please visit the membership page on our website. You don't even have to be an artist, or even directly involved in the erotic arena, as we also have a 'Patrons' level of Guild membership which costs £25 per year and brings with it free admittance to all our Event Days. For more details on this or any other matter please contact the Secretary, Colin Ballard: secretary@theguildoferoticartists.com

We look forward to seeing everyone again in May and in wishing all our new friends a very warm welcome - come and join the fun.
