| Formerly a derelict building, its present directors, Ken Clarke
- Body Moulder and Lifecasting Sculptor, Paul John Ballard - Artist and Colin
Ballard - Studio Co-ordinator, refurbished it over a six-month period in the
first half of 2002. Once, a 15th century monastery, it had been built with
ship-oak timbers and was most recently a grain barn. Set in the beautiful
Hertfordshire countryside, it is now an art gallery and an interactive working
studio where artists can exhibit and demonstrate their work. The doors opened
on 22nd June 2002. The studio layout is open plan retaining its 15th century character and there are 25 artists exhibiting at any one time. These range from oils, pencil, watercolours, bodycasting, stone and bronze sculptures, photography, stained glass and much more. The Guild of Erotic Artists was founded on 7th November 2002 and it was formed to bond and unite a network of artists that can use the studios' facilities as a platform to interact with each other and the public for the very first time in art history. One of the Guild of Erotic Artists goals was to establish a permanent Erotic Art exhibition that will display a stimulating range of work in a setting suitable to the importance it deserves. This goal has been realised in 'The Old Barn at Beaumont Hall Studios' at St Albans. The achievement of this goal required the support of all who have an interest in erotic art, whether for personal satisfaction or to promote tolerance and freedom of expression. With your continued support the Guild will promote a deeper, healthier and more tolerant appreciation of human sexuality by opening an exhibition of erotic art that will never close: The Old Barn at Beaumont Hall Studios. The Guild of Erotic Artists hosts social events throughout the year at The Old Barn at Beaumont Hall to raise funds and to provide a sense of community for supporters of erotic art. An example is the monthly Erotic Event Days which promotes and exhibits erotic art in a very popular party setting and encourages members of the public to join in and try their hand at artwork themselves. It raises funds to support the Guild's activities at the same time. The promotion and sale of both new and established artists is facilitated through the art gallery at The Old Barn at Beaumont Hall Studios |
